Biography: Pascal da Costa was born in 1976 and, since 2018, he is a Full Professor of Economics at CentraleSupélec / University Paris-Saclay, France.
He took his Master's degree (Magistère d'économie La Sorbonne, ENS Ulm, EHESS) and PhD in economics at La Sorbonne. He became assistant professor at Centrale Paris from 2006. Since 2013, he is the Director of the Sustainable Economic Research Group (S.E.R.G.) at the LGI / CentraleSupélec (CS).
From 2011 to 2022, he headed the CapitalDon research chair on Sustainable Development.
Pascal da Costa has conducted research for a number of industrial companies: ADEME, Greenly, CEA, RTE, EDF, PSA, ... He has supervised 15 Ph.D. theses and is currently supervising 5 Ph.D. doctorates.
Research Topics: His research interest is on Ecological and Environmental Economics, Climate Change and Energy Economics, Eco-systemic Services Assessment, Sustainable Development Paths, Techno-Economic Prospective Analysis.
Teaching Activities: His seminars and lectures are entitled Economic Models Innovation Environment (Master 2 EEET Paris-Saclay), Introductory Economics Course (M1 at CS), Environmental and Energy Economics (M1 at CS), Climate Economics (L3 at CS), and Nexus Economics (DU ‘Agir pour le climat’ Université Paris-Saclay).
In the early 2010s, he was the founder of the first French-speaking MOOC (France Université Numérique and Coursera) on Sustainable Development (with INED, LSCE, Agro., ...): over 35,000 learners.
Administrative Duties: In 2012, Pascal da Costa founded the Master EEET with future partners (Agro, IFPEN, etc.) of the future Paris-Saclay University. He is member of the Master's Programme Committee, and the Master's Correspondent for the CentraleSupélec engineering students doing this double degree.
From 2015 to 2020, he headed of the Busines Sciences Teaching Department at CentraleSupélec (30 people).
Since 2020, he is the Sustainable Development Referent at CS for energy, ecological and social transitions: he leads and coordinates the school's environmental policy and CSR with other Referents, and does the same at Groupe des Ecoles Centrale level.
Currently, he is elected member of the Board of the Paris-Saclay Graduate School of Economics and Management.
