The work of the Sustainable Economy Research Group spans the fields of Economics and Management Sciences, with a particular focus on their interactions with Technology and Engineering Sciences, aligning with the specialization of its host institution, CentraleSupélec Paris-Saclay University (CS).
The Group operates within the cross-disciplinary Industrial Engineering Department (LGI in French), fostering a dialogue between Economics / Management / Technological, Environmental and Industrial issues.
Being part of LGI and CS enables fertile research-driven interactions with a variety of stakeholders in industry, infrastructure sectors, finance, government, regulatory agencies, charities, and not-for-profit organizations.
The S.E.R.G. specializes in evaluating innovations, particularly their environmental and socio-economic impacts on organizations, industries, and markets. An emphasis is placed on eco-innovations and their role in the ecological transition, with energy and mobility as its two principal sectors.
From a methodological standpoint, the research conducted at the S.E.R.G. renews the French tradition of « Ingénieur-Economiste »: An interdisciplinary approach that examines pressing economic questions by combining Engineering expertise with the tools and knowledge of Economics and Management Sciences.

SERG's Collaborations and Community
The Group has built a distinctive position within its scientific community. Over the years, it has accumulated considerable experience in developing and disseminating quality and impactful research. This stream of research emanates from close interactions with diverse stakeholders working in private and public sectors, as well as long-standing partnerships with academic colleagues at national (e.g., Paris-Dauphine University, IFP School, Agro Paris, Mines Paris, UVSQ, CEA) and international levels (e.g., University of Delaware, European University Institute, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, DIW Berlin, TU Berlin, TU Munich, City StGeorge’s, University of London).
Taking advantage of this rich network, the S.E.R.G. serves as a platform that brings together academics and research-inclined practitioners. Several events are organized to structure the group's life, including our biannual Working Paper Days, our annual prestige conference: the Marcel Boiteux Lectures, that distinguishes eminent scholars, and various other international conferences (IAEE, 2021 & 2025, TAI 2023, etc.).
The S.E.R.G.'s researchers are also active in their communities outside the lab: Find out our latest news and Prizes in the menu bar above.
